Physiotherapists Dissatisfied

(From Ovr Own Reporter)

WELLINGTON, December 16. The Minister of Health (Mr McKay) will have a “second look” at the new rates of pay for physiotherapists, after a deputation he received from the New Zealand Society of Physiotherapists yesterday.

The deputation, led by the. Dominion secretary of the society, Mr D. W. King, and containing three members of I its salaries committee, expressed dissatisfaction at the new rates and at the reduction of one week in annual leave for those with less than five years’ service. Mr King said later the deputation also protested at the new salaries for tutors at the physiotherapists' training school in Dunedin. Under the new rates there was no incentive for people to take up physiotherapy or for those who had qualified in the I profession to take up tutoring, he said. 1 The Minister, said Mr King, was helpful “as far as be I could be.”

Mr McKay said later he had promised to look into the matters raised by the society. He said he had also received a number of telegrams from occupational therapists protesting at a cut in their holiday provisions. He would also have a second look at this.
