MT. PLEASANT SECTIONS

Scheme Plans To Be Allowed

Scheme plans for subdivisions in the Mount Pleasant area could be approved, providing the City Council ensured that building permits were not issued until about two months before the relief sewer was operating, the Christchurch Drainage Board decided on Tuesday evening.

The policy committee said approval had been received from the Local Authorities Loans Board for temporary disposal works. Tenders for the rising main part of this work would close in time for the February meeting and investigations were also proceeding on the other works required to bring the scheme into operation. The scheme should be operating within 12 to 18 months, the committee said.
