ONLY TWO QUALIFY
Inquisitive Lad’s Run
Inquisitive Lad and Queen Gipsy were the only pacers to qualify at trials held yesterday at Methven. Inquisitive Lad led early, but Queen Gipsy worked clear at the six furlongs, increasing the pace. Inquisitive Lad finished on best and won handily by four lengths. Inquisitive Lad is a six-year-old gelding by Light Brigade from a speedy mare in Inquisitive Lady. He is raced by Mr M. Ischia, for whom he is trained at Rolleston by O. M. Quinlan.
Several other horses failed to record the required 3:28 for 12 furlongs by narrow margins. Results:— FIRST HEAT.— lngleburn It M. A. Watson 1; Mary Dee it J. L. Behrns 2; Copper Khan It C. M. Carmichael 2; Satisfied It P. P. Gallagher 3; Belbay It E. R. Edge 4. Head; length: same. Times—3:29, 3:29 1-5, 3:29 3-5, 3:29 4-5. THIRD HEAT.— lnquisitive Lad it O. M. Quinlan 1; Queen Gypsy It C. McDonald 2; Allakasam It C. J. McLaughlin 3; Caplin It M. T. Butterlck, 4. Four lengths; 12 lengths; head. Times—3:24, 3:25 2-5, 3:29, 3:29 1-5. FOURTH HEAT.— Boy Logan It P. P. Gallagher 1; Major Domo It L. H. Broom 2; Smokey Belle It J. D. Litten 3; Wilder It G. Holmes 4. Three lengths; length; four lengths. Times—--3:31 1-5, 3:32, 3:32 1-5, 3:33 2-5.
