The Indonesian Communist Party has decided not to take part in the international meeting of Communist parties due to open in Moscow on March 1 next year, according to a party statement published today by the official Antara News Agency. The statement said the party’s decision had been submitted to the Soviet Ambassador to Indonesia. Mr N. A. Michailov, by the party’s chairman, Mr D. N. Aidit. Mr Aidit told the Ambassador that the Indonesian Communist Party would not participate in the meeting unless the preparations for such a meeting were well done and would be attended by all Labour and Communist parties from all the Socialist countries, the statement said. It added “because this meeting is not well prepared and will not be attended by Labour and Communist parties from all the Socialist countries, the Indonesian Communist Party will not take part in the meeting due to open on March I.” Mr Aidit suggested to the Ambassador the Soviet Union cancel such a meeting because it would only cause a split and sharpen controversies in the international Communist movement the statement said.
