Safety Belts In New Cars

(N.Z. Preu Aeeociatlon) AUCKLAND, Dec. 15 New cars bought from January 1 must be fitted with safety belts, and motorists will have to pay from about £lO 15s to £l2 7a a pair for them. There is not expected to be any shortage of the belts, as manufacturers have been building up stocks for the increased demand in recent months. The district officer of the Transport Department, Auckland, Mr H. W. Wratt, said today the main problem would be to persuade motorists to wear the belts. But he believed that most people would wear them once they were fitted.
