PRAISE FOR APPEAL
‘Fruit Juice Volunteers’ (N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE, December 14. Police and road safety authorities today praised an appeal for “fruit juice volunteers” to stay sober at office Christmas parties and drive drinkers home. The idea behind the appeal is to reduce road accidents after office parties. The “fruit juice volunteers” would refuse alcohol and ferry home colleagues who might be a little drunk. The Victorian Chief Commissioner of Police, Mr R. H. Arnold, said: “I’m all for it.” The executive director of the Australian Road Safety Council, Mr T. G. Paterson, said the idea was .“very sound.”
