I Three Dunedin youths hurriedly cut short their swim off Warrington on Saturday when a 6ft shark swam 'within a few feet of them. I Six more sharks were seen ibeyond the breakers. ' Today, one of the youths, ! Murray Smart, of Portobello road, Dunedin, said: “We were swimming in the breakjers where the water was only 1 waist deep. “The shark passed about (two feet away from us, just [swimming along, not taking any notice of us. “We didn’t wait to see if he was going to take an interest in us because we left the water as fast as we could. “From the shore, we watched with several other people and outside the breakers we could see another six, possibly seven, sharks: but we could not see what size they were.” He and his friends watched the sharks for about 30 minutes and when they left to home, the sharks were still in the same place. Warnings were broadcast after the sharks were sighted.
