CARPET FOR PALACE
Thai Order To Auckland Firm
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Nov. 25.
The King of Thailand has placed an order with an Auckland firm for 720 square feet of top-quality carpet. The carpet will be laid in the Royal Palace at Bangkok for the State visit to be made on December 4 by Crown Prince Akihito of Japan. Mr C. H. Ellis, secretary of the firm which made the carpet, said the order was a direct result of the New Zealand trade mission which has recently returned from Southeast Asia.
Mr Ellis was a member of the trade mission and made preliminary arrangements for the sale of the carpet when he was in Bangkok.
The carpet, 24ft by 30ft, will be flown to Bangkok on Saturday.
