J. Julian, of New Zealand, will take part in the 18th Asahi International marathon to be held in Fukuoka, Southern Japan, on December 6, the “Asahi Shimbun,” a Japanese national daily, said today. The 29-year-old New Zealand runner finished 29th in the marathon event of the Tokyo Olympic Games last October but won last year’s Asahi international marathon in 2hr 18min 6sec. Julian is one of the four foreign runners invited to compete in the marathon. The other three are J. Green of the United States, Sang Hun Lee of South Korea, and Vaclav Chudomel of Czechoslovakia. Negotiations were under way for inviting another runner from Britain. Runners Not Training (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. A. M. Magee, one of two injured runners at the Tokyo Olympics, has been unable to train since the Games. Magee said today he can walk comfortably but a run of even 100 yards caused his ankle to become sore. He is as yet unable to resume training. N. I. Scott has again started quiet training, but doubts if he will run in the 5000 metres at the Auckland meeting on December .12. “I’ll only run if I find my form is good enough,” said Scott. “I had a big background of work before the injury and I never did use the form I’d stored up. ' “If I can reach it again quickly I’ll run—but not otherwise. Whether I do or not won’t alter the fact that my main target is the championships at the other end of this season.”
