N.Z. MAY SEND STOCK
New Zealand is one of several countries that have been invited to send livestock to an exhibition to be held next April on a farm known as Mother Farm, about 60 miles out of Tokyo. The exhibition is being sponsored by the “Nohki News,” a newspaper with an agricultural and economic bias. The farm is understood to be that of the chairman of the board of directors of the journal.
It is expected that overall some 24 dairy cattle, 47 beef cattle, 60 pigs and 60 sheep will be assembled on the farm for the display. Invitations to contribute have been issued to the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand may contribute about 37 head including beef and dairy cattle and sheep. Breed societies and tne United Breeds Societies’ Ass<> ciation are showing interest in the project, for which entries are required by the
end of the month. Photographs of entries are being required by the Japanese sponsors, who undertake/ to buy the stock at the minimum nominated price of the exhibitor. Mr J. A. Holms, president of the Romney Marsh Sheep Society, made some investigations about the project when he was in Tokyo for the Olympic Games, and the New Zealand Comm*, cial Councillor, Mr J. F. Feuaughty, has also been assisting. Mother Farm is a block of about 2000 acres at present covered in scrub and bush which it is proposed to convert into a model farm. It lies in easy rolling hill country.
