Police Search For Boy
A large squad of policemen last night searched for a six-year-old boy who ran away after a fire in a fowlhouse at his home in Wainoni.
The boy, Barry John Neilands, was reported missing early in the evening from his home at 43 Emlyn place. He had not been located at midnight. Firemen were called to the home at 6 p.m., but a small fire in the fowlhouse had been put out when they arrived. The boy was later discovered to be missing. After dark and a search by his family and neighbours, the police were informed.
Uniform police, a police dog and detectives searched round the boy’s home and further afield. The boy, on previous occasions when he has received a fright, has hidden and gone to sleep. No fears were felt for his safety, but the police planned to enlarge the search party at dawn today if the boy had not been found or had not returned home by then.
