PRINCE’S ESSAYS

Court May Decide (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, November 8. A High Court Judge may be asked to decide the ownership of one of 15-year-old Prince Charles’s school exercise books. The book—of the Prince of Wales’s classroom essays—disappeared from Gordonstoun School, a fee-paying Scottish academy, near Aberdeen, six weeks ago, and has since been recovered by detectives from Scotland Yard. The director of a Lancashire press agency, Mr Terry Smith, of St. Helens, claimed he is the lawful owner of the book and has issued writs against Scotland Yard’s chief, Sir Joseph Simpson, and a detective superintendent. He claims the book should be returned, alleging it was “wrongfully taken from the Mercury Press Agency," and also seeks damages.
