RACE FOR COD

Trawlers For Chathams (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. The biggest race in the history of Wellington’s fishing fleet will take place in the next 48 hours when three rival boats set out for the Chatham Islands to compete in line fishing for blue cod. They are the converted trawler Taiaroa, which has completed a 12 months’ conversion into a factory ship, the former coaster Picton, which has completed a twoweeks’ refit with the installation of a new refrigerated hold, and the Coromel. which has made regular trips for cod over a period of years.
