Sir Barton Could Win At Hastings

HASTINGS, November 5. If Sir Barton's run can bo timed a little later than It was on Wednesday, he could win the Napier Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double, on the final day of the Napier Park races at Hastings on Saturday. In the President’s Handicap, Sir Barton improved very quickly crossing the top to be trailing the pacemaker. Red View, into the straight but he spent himself before the finish line and finished a close fourth. That race should improve him considerably. The first day winner. Gay Minga, is bound to race well again because he is very fit and seldom runs poorly at Hastings. Acapulco, third in the
President's Handicap, and the newcomer. Grand Coeur might prove the best of the remainder. A newcomer. Plush, which did not race on the opening day, is selected to win the second leg, the seven furlongs Stewards' Handicap. She worked solidly yesterday. The track for this morning's work was perfect and it U exCected that the going will again e first-class for Saturday. November 5. R. W. Taylor, who won the Melbourne Cup on Polo Prince on Tuesday, is returning home tomorrow and he will be riding at the Napier Park Racing Club’s meeting at Hastings on Saturday. Taylor’s only definite ride so far is Tilly Light in the Napier Handicap. A firm in Australia has sponsored a fortnight's holiday for Taylor and his wife in Honolulu, but the 23-year-old Palmerston North jockey has decided to hold the trip in abeyance in the meantime. Taylor is reported to be considering a permanent offer to ride in Australia.
