Man Rescued From Ditch

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, November 5.

After his car grazed a telegraph pole and became out of control south of the Seadown garage on the main highway about 5.55 p.m. today, Rodderick McLean, of 12 Roslyn terrace, who is employed by the Lands and Survey Department, was thrown from the car into an irrigation ditch containing a foot of water. He was pinned beneath the car when it came to rest on top of him.

Three other motorists lifted the car on one side and pulled Mr McLean from underneath it. Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was applied, and Mr McLean recovered consciousness. He was taken to hospital in a Temuka St. John ambulance' which was enroute to Timaru with another patient. Mr McLean’s condition was described late this evening as satisfactory.
