Huge Individual Incomes In Aust.
CANBERRA, Oct. 30. Sixty-nine persons, including 13 women, had taxable incomes of more than £50,000 In 1962-63. Taxation statistics tabled In the House of Representatives today by the Treasurer (Mr H. E. Holt) show that these 69 people paid a total of £2,756,999 in tax—an average of nearly £40,000 each.
The 69 taxpayers had an actual income of £6,660,244 and a taxable income of £4,632,996, Fourteen men and three

women lived in New South Wales, and 18 men and one woman in Victoria.
A total of 150 taxpayers, including 24 women, had incomes between £30,000 and £49,999 during the year, and 391. including 65 women, had taxable incomes between £20,000 and £29,999. The greatest number of taxpayers, 448.401, were in the £l5OO to £1999 income group, followed by 362,056 in the £lOOO to £1099 group. The 448,401 taxpayers paid a total of £72,586,848 in tax, and the 362,056 paid £24,857,246.
