Expansion "Too Rapid”
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 23. New Zealand economic expansion would not be set back by Government measures to meet inflationary pressures, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said this evening. Mr Holyoake said the crux of New Zealand’s economic problems was a too rapid rate of expansion. This would lead to undesirable inflationary pressures if not controlled.
He hoped there would be full co-operation from the people in the need for restraint and he singled out the wool industry as one which could greatly assist. The full text of Mr Holyoake’s statement on measures to meet inflation appears cn pages 22 and 23.
