Riccarton H.S. Roll
The present roll of the Riccarton High School was 713, and the roll next year was expected to be 760, the headmaster (Mr A J. Gainsford) reported to a meeting of the board of governors yesterday. He also reported that the plan and siting of the proposed new gymnasium were nearing the final approval stage, and gifts of £260 had been received as a result of efforts of board members and the generosity of local firms. Mr Gainsford said that a Chinese girl in Singapore, Ho Siew Chin, aged 16, had applied for Form VI education at the school. The board approved the application, which Is for next year. The girl wishes to study to take up architecture.
