N.Z. Gymnasts Outclassed

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.PA.) TOKYO, October 21. New Zealand’s girl gymnasts finished well down in the points system at the conclusion of their event today. Misses Theodora Hill, Pauline Gardiner and Jean Spencer performed creditably, but were unable to match the strong Continental teams. At the end of the compulsory section of the competi-

tion on Monday, the New Zealand girls were well towards the end of the field. In today’s voluntary exercises on the same groups of apparatus, they were unable to score high enough marks to advance their position. The best New Zealand marks today were the 8533 scored by Miss Hill in the floor exercises. At the end of the first sec-

tion Miss Hill was the leader of the New Zealand trio with 34.566 points. She scored 34.399 points today, to finish with a total of 68.965 points from a possible of 80. Next came Miss Gardiner with 33.398 points in the voluntary section for a total of 68.330, and then Miss Spencer, with 32.800 points today for a final tally of 66.365 points.
