UNPOPULAR DECISION

Tiger Beaten By Archer

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, October 17.

The former middle-weight champion Dick Tiger, of Nigeria, was jolted out of his come-back bid in New York tonight when he was outpointed over 10 rounds by J. Archer. Tiger, aged 35. and frantically chasing a chance to fight the champion J. Giardello again—he narrowly lost on points last December—gave away nine years to Archer, who has title designs of his own.

The hard-punching Nigerian did all he could to catch Archer.

The decision was one of the most unpoular ever given at Madison Square Garden. A storm of booing swept the arena as one judge and the referee gave the fight to Archer and another judge to Tiger. Tiger appeared stunned by the decision and shrugged his shoulders.
