INQUIRIES AT WINTON
Two Jockeys Fined £lO After the running of the Barkley Novice Stakes No. 1 at Invercargill on Saturday, an inquiry was held into interference by Argyle Boy (R. N. Marsh) to Captain Howe (J. M. Mulqueen) at the turn for home. After hearing evidence the committee found the charge proven and fined Marsh £lO, but did not consider the interference severe enough to change the placings. Payout of the dividends in the Barkley Nove Stakes No. 2 was held up when J. R. Dowling (Sandy's Son) was charged with causing Interference to Gee Jay (A. J. Tweedie) about threequarters of a furlong from home. After hearing evidence the committee upheld the charge and Dowling was fined £lO. The placings were altered to Koral 1, Gee Jay 2, and Sandy's Son 3. H. A. Anderton, the trainer of AHez Vite, was fined £5 for the late scratching of his horse from the Winton Cup. A. J. Bourne Is Satisfactory The Woolston trainer, A. J. Bourne, who was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with suspected internal injuries after being involved in a seven-horse smash at Motukarara on Saturday, underwent an operation on Saturday night. Bourne’s condition was described as satisfactory last evening. Rehandicaps (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 11.
