(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, October 11. Both gate receipts and totalisator returns showed a sharp increase when the Winton Jockey Club staged its spring meeting at Invercargill on Saturday. More than usual interest was shown in the outcome of the meeting, because of the recent New Zealand-wide move to centralise racing and trotting. The Winton Club was the first in Southland to race away from its own course. The racing was held in fine weather and on a fast track. Results:— TURI HIGH-WEIGHT, £250; Ilf. —5/5 ATAARANGI (4) 9-0 S.
