Capital Land Values Up

The gross capital value of land increased by £l94m during the year ended March 31, according to the September abstract of statistics prepared by the Department of Statistics. It now stands at £3BBlm. Of this total the rateable capital value is £3479m—an increase of £l7om on the previous year. The gross unimproved value increased by £67m to £1173m and of this the rateable unimproved value is £loB4m or £62m greater than for the previous year. Besides rateable property, gross values include unoccupied Crown lands, churches and schools, together vdth other lands exempt from local rating.
