“The Press’" Special Service DUNEDIN, October 9. Master Alan, which finished third in last year’s New Zealand Cup, and which had raced his way into favour for this year’s contest by winning the Roydon Lodge Free-for-all at Hutt Park last month in the track record time of 3min 8 3-ssec for a mile and a half, has cracked a bone in his right front leg and is unlikely to start in a race for the next few months. Master Alan was X-rayed on Thursday, and the films revealed that he had cracked a bone in his right front lower leg. A splinter of bone may have to be removed, but a decision on this will be made this week-end, according to Mr C. M. Here, one of his part-owners, yesterday.
