20,111 MORE SACKS

Oyster Catch This Year (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 9. The 1964 oyster catch was 20,111 sacks more than last year, the Minister of Marine (Mr Scott) said this evening. Mr Scott said the total catch was approximately 94,870 sacks, the figure being subject to rechecking of returns and the Bluff Harbour Board’s figure. But for self-imposed limits, the catch would have been considerably higher both in the daily boat average and the grand total taken. ' The following statistics were supplied by Mr Scott (the 1963 figures being in parentheses): days dredging 120 (117), number of boat days 2053 (1749), average catch a boat-day 46.2 (42.7), total catch 94,870 (74,759).
