The appointees will be required to teach in the general field of their qualifications and in addition to carry out original work. The academic organisation of the university will be based on schools of studies rather than on faculties and departments and undergraduate work will be carefully planned through integrated courses of study. During 1965 the university will be teaching according to University of Auckland prescriptions, and the appointees will be expected to participate tn this programme, but during the coming year the university’s own foundation professors will be planning its own appropriate courses for the future. Appointments will be made at annual salaries somewhere on the lecturers' scale which is £l3OO by annual increments to a promotion bar at £2OOO and then by the same increments to £2500. Travel and other removal expenses to Hamilton will Ibe allowed at approved rates. After completion of five years' satisfactory service, return fares may be granted to the appointee and his family. The university’s policy is to encourage the taking of study leave, and applications for such leave will be considered individually.
