Wage Increase In New Award

An increase of 3d an hour or 10s a week, has been granted to members of the New Zealand Shipwrights, Boatbuilders, Ship Joiners, and Joiners' Machinists’ Union in a new award issued by the Arbitration Court. The award, which came into effect on August 17, excludes the Northern and Westland Industrial districts. The increase brings the minimum hourly rate to 7s 8d and the weekly rate to £l5 6s Bd. The rates are subject to the Court’s 6 per cent basic wage increase.
