Such a position demands technical competence and knowledge of the company's products, how they operate, and what processes they perform. An apprenticeship background as a fitter and turner with additional machining experience is therefore almost essential. He should also have evidence of continued study and experience in production. Membership of the Institution of Production Eingineers or of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers would be valuable, but uot necessary. The total requirements are managerial ability, salesmanship, technical competence, some commercial practice and a knowledge of licensing and customs procedure. The appointee will, of course, be interested in production and machining techniques. To attract the right man the company is offering £1750 per annum, but considerably more than this will be earned by a competent person.
