Ball At Pegasus

The ships company of H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, the Canterbury Division, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve held its annual ball at the division’s headquarters, in Montreal street last evening. Three hundred guests attended. Specially invited guests were received on board by the president of the ship’s welfare committee, Lieutenant Commander R. F. Sanderson, R.N.Z.N.V.R., and Mrs Sanderson, and the coxswain. Chief Petty Officer E. V. Coburn, and Mrs Coburn. The official guests included sident, R.N.V.R. Veterans’ mander R. M. J. O’Connor, R.N.Z.N.V.R. and Mrs O’Connor; the previous commanding officer, Captain J. N. Allan, R.N.Z.N.V.R. (retired) and Mrs Allan; Lieutenant Commander A. D. Nelson, R.N.Z.N. (staff officer to the division): Mr G. Felton (president, R.N.V.R.) Veterans’ Association) and Mrs Felton; Lieutenant Commander M. N. Way mouth, R.N.Z.N. (commanding officer H.M.N.Z.S. Pukaki); the Rev. P. N. Wright (chaplain) and Mrs Wright; Chief Petty Officer Lassiter (naval recruiter) and Mrs Lassiter.

Other guests included representatives from the frigate H.M.N.Z.S. Pukaki, at present visiting Lyttelton, and from the Women's Royal New Zealand Air Force (Wigram), the Girls’ Nautical Training Corps, Sea Cadet Corps, sea rangers, and regular and territorial units.
