Lamb Prices Easier (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2: There was slow inquiry for most commodities at Smithfield Market, London, this week, according to the Meat Board market information service. There was an easing in prices of New Zealand lamb from the peak level bf recent weeks. There was a decline of Is 2d per lb in quotations for the main grade (prime 29-3Qlb). There were light pitchings of New Zealand mutton. The main grade (49-561 b was quoted at 18|d to 19s per lb. The main grade of ewes (49-561 b was at 16d per lb Small quantities of New Zealand G.A.Q. ox hinds were quoted at 29s to 29}d per lb and fores at 20d to 21d per lb. In the United States there has been a strengthening of prices for both domestic and impbrted boneless processing meats. Net overseas assets of the New Zealand banking system on September 23 were £BB.Bm, compared with £89.1m on September 16 and £81.3m on September 25, 1963.
