Linesman Gets Shock

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, October 2.

Daniel Scannell, aged 33, an M.E.D. linesman, married, of 10 Browne street, Timaru. accidentally brushed against a 230-volt overhead wire and suffered an electric shock about 10.45 a.m. today. Mr Scannell, who was working up a pole in Selwyn street, was lowered down a ladder and another M.E.D.| employee applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The injured man was taken to the Timaru Hospital by a St. John ambulance, admitted for observation, and later discharged.

Destroyers Named.—The United States Defence Department identified on Thursday the two United States destroyers involved in the recent Gulf of Tonkin shooting incident as the Edwards and the Morton, 2850-ton craft— Washington, October 2.
