LECTURES ON ALCOHOLISM

Three To Be Given This Month

Alcoholism —its prevention, diagnosis, and treatmentwill be the subject of three lectures to be given In Christchurch this month. The course Is organised by the National Society on Alcoholism in conjunction with the tutorial classes committee of the Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association.

The first lecture will be given on October 8 by Dr. S. W. P. Mirams, Director of the Mental Health Division of the Department of Health, and by a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, on “Alcoholism in Theory and Practice.” On October 15 the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt), will speak on “Alcohol at Home and in the Church.”

The final lecture will be given on October 17 by Sir John Walsh, Dean of the Dental School, Otago. He will speak on "The Significance in the community of the Alcoholics Anonymous Programme.”
