(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Sept. 29 The new headmaster of Eton, Mr Anthony Chev-enix-Trench, has had second thoughts about boxing. After contemplating its replacement by instruction in judo he has now said that it Will continue on three conditions: 1. Fights will be stopped as soon as they became unequal. 2. Boys must be matched not only for weight, but for age, strength and skill. 3. Boxing must be regarded as an exhibition of skill and not as a competitive game in the strict sense. On these terms boxing is to be carried on by Eton, both as an interhouse activity and as a sport between schools. It was because of this question of emphasis that Eton withdrew earlier this year from the quadrangular competition with Haileybury, Bedford and Dulwich schools. There are more than 1000 boys at Eton, of whom a maximum of 10 per cent box.
