MAY MEET IN KOREA

Asia-Pacific Forestry (NZ. Press Association) ROTORUA, Sept. 28. The Republic of Korea today in Rotorua applied to hold the eighth session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission. It made the application during the seventh session of the commission. Mr Aung Din. secretary, told Dr. Chong Supp Shim, who extended the invitation, that a final decision on the date and venue of the session would be made by the direc-tor-general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation in consultation with the commission’s chairman (Mr A. L. Poole, New Zealand). Dr. Shim said great importance was attached to forestry in Korea, a mountainous country with 60 per cent of its total area in trees. Among the topics he suggested for discussion were erosion control and tree genetics. The eighth session will be held in 1967.
