Dogs Attack Prize Flock

f.Y.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept 27. Sheep valued at hundreds of pounds were killed and maimed by two savage pig dogs at Waitotara on Saturday morning. In a few hours amid a prize flock the dogs killed 18 ewes and 16 lambs owned by a Romney stud breeder, Mr J. C. Gower-James. The dogs were later found 'and shot. Two young lambs ;on an adjacent farm, owned by Mr M. Langdon, were also killed.

Of 160 sheep in the paddock, dozens were severely injured. Among the lambs killed were 10 stud rams which could have been worth up to 20 guineas each. The ewes killed were all stud sheep. The owners of the dogs said the animals had been’ let loose before the start of a week-end pig-shooting expedition.
