PARTY IN QUEBEC
Separatist Goal (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) QUEBEC, September 28. A new political party advocating the independence of Quebec province and condemning “without restriction any form of violence and corruption” has been formed. Dr. Rene Jutras, president of the new group, says the party will be known as Le Regroupement National (National Regrouping). Thirteen of its founding members, Including Dr. Jutras, recently quit Le Raspendance Nationale, Quebec’s major separatist party. Dr. Jutras said the party would hold a founding convention next spring and intended to present candidates for all 95 legislature seats in the next provincial general election, due by 1966. He said that anybody wishing to become a member would have to sign and adhere to a 10-point manifesto setting out the philosophy and principles of the party.
The manifesto says the party intends to work for a sovereign and democratic Quebec, a state with a French culture and Christian inspiration.
