Driver Has Busy Day

The Addington trainerdriver, R. Young, had a busy day on Saturday. After driving in six events at the Methven Trotting Club’s meeting, he made a rushed trip back to Christchurch to catch a plane for Wellington where he deputised at Hutt Park for F. E. Newfield. Newfield was injured in the seventh race at Methven when he was tipped from his sulky and struck by a horse and Young had little notice of his Wellington trip. From his six drives at Methven he scored three successive wins, but he was not as fortunate at Hutt Park where the best he could do in three drives was a fourth with Pohutukawa in the Ordeal Free-For-All.
