BOY STOLE £574
Travelled To Australia (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. A boy aged 16 burgled a Wellington business house on August 7 and travelled to Australia on stolen money. He appeared before Mr R. D. Jamieson, S.M., in the Children’s Court yesterday and was released on probation for three years. Senior-Sergeant E. D. Russell said the boy had burgled a city firm where he had been employed for two weeks as a storeman and had taken £574 14s in cheques and cash. He flushed the cheques down a toilet at the railway station and took home £162 in cash. ■He flew to Auckland and thence to Sydney, where he took a job as a theatre usher. He then travelled to Brisbane.
