NEW LIGHT SYSTEM
London taxi cabs are to experiment with a new headlight system this winter. Intended for use only in welllit streets, the system makes the headlights operate at lower intensity in the dipped position, thus preventing dazzle.
In Britain it is common for vehicles to drive in towns on parking lights only, and safety organisations are urging the use of dipped lights. In Birmingham an experiment in which cars used dipped headlights resulted in a considerable decrease in the number of night-time accidents.
