Round Trip
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright/ MELBOURNE, September 14. Three Hungarian sheep dogs led a dog's life aboard the liner Marconi which arrived in Melbourne today from Genoa. They revelled in it They travelled in air-condi-tioned comfort first-class and in special kennels, complete with their own private exercise yard. Quarantine department officers would not allow the dogs off the ship as they had not been quarantinedp in England. So now they will travel back again in the same luxury on the liner to Genoa, then to England for six months quarantine, and later back to Australia before their owner, Hungarian-born Mr Fran Nagy, of Windsor, can claim them. Mr Nagy felt he was leading “the dog’s life" as he made arrangements for his pups to go to England. “The dogs are valued at £5OO each,” he said. “By the time they return to Australia they will have cost me a lot of money—but they’re worth it.” The pups are highly prized as sheep dogs in Hungary and are the first to be allowed out of the country. Mr Nagy plans to introduce the breed here.
