Mr Juan Matteucci, conductor of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation Symphony Orchestra, has agreed to become patron of the Christchurch Recorded Music Society. Captain A. R. Stephenson has been appointed an assistant marine superintendent for Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, Ltd., in Wellington. Captain Stephenson joined the sea service in the Shaw Savill line in 1944 and was later appointed head stevedore for the company at Auckland. Dr. G. S. McNaughton, of the Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Gracefield, has been awarded a two-year fellowship by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority to work in laboratories of the authority in Britain, where he will study useful chemical reactions occurring as the result of irradiation. Dr. McNaughton will leave for Britain in about two months. Mr C. J. Ward’s appointment as honorary Vice-Consul of Sweden has been gazetted. —(F.0.0.R.)
