Hard Work, But Newdick “Keen As Ever” On Golf
(New Zealand Press Association)
. AUCKLAND, Sept. 9. R. R. Newdick, tlje touring golf professional, returned to Auckland tonight after nine months abroad. Although prepared for the hard business outlook of professional golf, Newdiek was still disconcerted to find how concentrated the players were on their own affairs and how little sympathy they showed toward a man who was off his game or down on his luck. “I realise,” he said, “that it would be madness for me to attempt the American circuit before I am ready for it. “That is why I want to go back to Britain next year in search of sounder form before I give any serious thought to America. “I have lost half a stone,” he added. “It’s been hard work but I am as keen as ever on golf. “I feel that I can make a career in this game and I am bursting to do the very best I can.”
