Radio Nuisance
The British Ministry of Works has decided to “get tough” with people who sit in royal parks and listen to their transistor radios. They are going to enforce rigidly a 1955 regulation prohibiting the playing of “musical instruments” in the parks. Notices are going up saying the offence carries a fine of up to £5. Hundreds of people have protested about being disturbed by pocket-sized radios. —London. September 8.
