Kaiapol. .3731 POWER CUTS IN ACCORDANCE with instructions from the New Zealand Electricity Department to reduce electricity consumption by the control of water-heating, notice is hereby given that, in the area supplied by the Municipal Electricity Department, Christchurch, water heaters will be shut off by centralised control for 24 hours from 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, to 9 p.m., Wednesday, September 9. The necessity to apply power cuts in Christchurch is regretted but failure to restrict consumption now will almost certainly result in a much more serious shortage later. Any additional savings which consumers can make now will reduce the number of such compulsory cuts required to give the necessary total saving.
