CANTERBURY C.W.I.
At the executive meeting of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes held recently, it was announced that Mrs A. R. Gould, of South Brighton institute, and convener of the Canterbury federation arts and crafts circle, would convene the federation entry in the next Robert Young Rose Bowl competition. This is to be eight dinner mats, and will be judged at the next biennial council meeting to be held in the North Island in 1965.
Mrs L. M. Kellaway will represent the federation at Christchurch centre's twentyfifth anniversary in September.
Representatives will also attend several anniversary celebrations Sumner’s twenty-third, Rapaki’s fifteenth, and Spencerville’s fourth anniversary. Members of institutes will attend the display of arts and crafts arranged by the regional coordinating committee, and to be held in the Girl Guides’ Hall on September 18. Plans are well in hand for the spring flower show, to be held at Glentunnel on Tuesday, September 29, arranged by Mrs E; J. Meihuish and her committee. The bay at the Industries Fair had created much interest, and three broadcasts weekly had been given, it was reported. It is planned to have a discussion at the federation halfyearly meeting to be held at North Beach in October, on ways of implementing the remit passed at the Dominion conference on the litter problem.
