AUCKLAND INSISTS
Request For Meeting (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 6. The Auckland Football Association is pressing its request for a special general meeting in Wellington on October 1 to discuss controversial topics. This was made clear by the A FA. chairman (Mr R. Higgs) yesterday when he commented bn the New Zealand Football Association’s apparent disregard for Auckland’s request. The N.Z.F.A. sent out the agenda for its half-yearly meeting on October 2 and 3 and included in it are all the topics which Auckland, backed by Poverty Bay and Franklin, wanted discussed separately. There was no mention of a special meeting on October 1. ’’But we insist that one be held.” said Mr Higgs. "The New Zealand association has no say in the matter. Once three associations band together and ask for a special meeting. it must automatically be called bv the secretary. "The N.Z.F.A. is not empowered to reject our request.” The "controversial topics” which Auckland. Poverty Bay and Franklin want discussed are the reports on the recent world tour, the Munster club’s tour, financial matters and the national body’s tie-up with the world tour promoter,' Mr Willi Treml. Mr Higgs said: “We feel these matters are better detached from the normal half-yearly meeting and we insist on the special meeting on October 1.”
