KNOCK-OUT TOURNEY

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 6. Sussex retained the Gillette Cup cricket knock-out competition when it beat Warwickshire by eight wickets at Lord’s on Saturday. Warwickshire, batting first, was all out for 127, scored in 48 overs. Sussex replied with 131 for two after K. Suttle (42) and L. Lenham (47) had set it well on the way to victory. The England and Sussex captain, E. R. Dexter, was 17 not out, and the England wicketkeeper, J. M. Parks, 21 not out. The top scorer for Warwickshire were M. J. K. Smith (28) and A. Smith (35 not out). The honour of “man of the match” went to the Sussex seam bowler, I. Thomson, for his bowling analysis of four for 23. Thomson dismissed three Warwickshire batsmen in his first 25 deliveries. Dexter, in his three for six spell, got rid of Warwickshire’s tail.
