New Premises For Registry

All the files of births, deaths, and marriages in the Christchurch district over the last 100 years and more will be moved on Saturday morning from the present office of the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Hereford street to “The Press” building in Cathedral square.

The Registrar (Mr J. Miller) said yesterday that the carting of the files was expected to take all day. The telephone number of the Registrar’s office will remain unchanged. Mr Miller asked the public to approach his office only on urgent matters on Monday, as the staff would need till the end of that day to get everything in order.
