Points from the Statement to Stockholders for the year ended 30th June, 1964. d- I *m pleased to report that as the result of a general increase in business the Group profit of £4.443,710 is substantially above the highest level hitherto achieved. Total assets of £229,135,344 for the Group are the highest in our history. Subsidiary companies in the United Kingdom have made good progress in the past year, and we have enjoyed further and notable progress in our undertakings overseas. United Dominions Corporation (Australia) Ltd. and United Dominions Corporation (South Pacific) Ltd. continue their steady and profitable expansion. These companies have acquired a much envied status and reputation in Australia and New Zealand. In the last few years their course has run through some difficult patches of ground and the even and successful conduct of their affairs deserves high praise. 4c It is our hope that, in due course, we shall be able to provide a ‘ complete range of not only financial but also of other services for those who are. or can usefully be, engaged in the export and import of goods. To that end we have incorporated a company which will develop a comprehensive service for exporters. We are pre-eminent in the wide field of instalment credit and we have, for many years, been adding financial and commercial services. either new or improved, whenever the need for them appeared. Our expansion in Commonwealth and other countries is producing an important contribution to Group profits and the process of extending into Europe will, we believe, in time produce much more than a fillip to our prosperity. Our policy for the future will be to continue to broaden the base of our activity intrinsically and geographically either by ourselves or in expert partnership wherever opportunity lies. There is no doubt that in the longer term the many form of finance which the Group provides will command a wide and expanding market. Credit is an essential factor in the promotion of individual enterprise and so of national progress.
