INVERCARGILL, August 27. Two recently promoted hacks. Star Quality and The Toff, may have most in their favour in the President’s Handicap, the main flat event and the first leg of the double at the Eastern Southland Hunt Club’s annual meeting at Gore tomorrow, which will mark the opening of a new racing season in Southland. The second leg will be on the Mandeville Hack Handicap, for which Dallabella, Town Crier, and Glenmorven look a likely trid. After a good amount of rain during the week the track will be easy. Selections: — 11 a.m.—Kennels Hack and Hunters' Hurdles: Castlerock, Jolly Fox, Corvale. 11.35 a.m.—Knapdale Stakes No. 1: Casstay, How Exciting. Primrose Lane. 12.10 p.m.—President’s Handicap: The Toff, Star Quality, Silver Spire. 12.50 p.m.—Wayte Memorial Steeplechase: Fire Bar. Kurdle, Alonzo Rose. 1.30 p.m.—Knapdale Stakes No. 2: Royal Burgh. Marquette, Argyle Boy. 2.5 p.m.—Mandeville Hack Handicap: Dallabella, Town Crier, Glenmorven. 2.45 p.m.—Eastern Southland Steeplechase: Fine Chase, Runty.
